Change your lifestyle today

Dermatology – derived from the Greek “derma”, meaning the skin – is a branch of medicine dealing with the skin and its appendages (hair, nails, sweat glands etc.). The skin is the largest organ of the body and obviously the most visible. Many skin conditions are actually allergic reactions, rather than skin diseases, and FV Hospital’s dermatology team has experience in treating many common allergies, as well as those that are manifestations of internal diseases.

Every consultation begins with a discussion of the patient’s medical history and duration and temporal pattern of their skin problems. This will include investigations of any; itching or pain, as a result of food intake, sunlight, over-the-counter creams, and clothing; and a thorough examination of the skin, usually conducted under a bright light and over the whole body. At this stage, the specialist may apply Wood’s light, which may aid in diagnosing types of mycosis or demonstrate the extent of pigmented lesions; or use a dermatoscope (an invaluable new instrument that enlarges a suspected lesion and makes it visible without reflected light).

Dermatology conditions treated at FV Hospital range from acne, eczema, urticaria, psoriasis, herpes, superficial fungal infections, pigmentation disorders and skin tumours to general problems.

Dermatology services at FV Hospital include:

  • Skin cancer procedures, such as the removal of moles, benign and malign skin tumours, cysts and skin tags
  • Acne treatment
  • Keloid scar management
  • Phototherapy and iontophoresis treatment for hyper sweating of the hands and feet.
  • Cosmetic procedures, such as chemical peels; anti-aging therapies such as Botox® and hyaluronic acid injections; and treatment of age spots by laser treatment.

Besides a healthy lifestyle, nutritious food and the assistance of anti-aging products, a cosmetic procedure is the fastest and the most effective way to help you look younger. At FV Hospital, we offer many cosmetic procedures to help you turn back the clock.

Micro-needling therapy

FV Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology Department now offers a new micro-needling therapy service, which involves utilizing fine needles and a needle roller to treat three common skin problems: aging skin, freckles and pigmented skin, and acnes. These procedures are performed by cosmetologists who are specially trained in Japan.

During the procedure, high quality topical which is made-in-France, is applied in combination with a light Ozone steam (a steamer using Ozone Light) to rejuvenate a patient’s skin. Results can include improved moisture, texture and firmness of the skin thanks to skin cell regeneration.

Botox® is the most popular non-surgical skin care procedure in the world. Millions of people, including many movie stars, undergo Botox® procedures to erase unwanted wrinkles temporarily and enhance the vibrancy of their face. Now you can, too! The treatment safely and successfully reduces wrinkles, for example, between the eyes (“angry lines”), on the upper forehead (“worry lines”) and around the eyes.

Botox® can also be used for pain relief and for migraine headache prevention, to reduce excessive sweating from the hands or under the arms. Botox® can be used to create a slim, feminine jaw or alter your eyebrow shape.

Botox® works by relaxing the muscles below the wrinkles, resulting in smoother looking skin. Botox® injections are the most commonly performed facial rejuvenation treatment in the world because of its double benefit. Firstly, it smooths away forehead lines, and crow’s feet lines, and, at the same time, it prevents the appearance of new frown lines. Botox® will give you a younger look, instantly. Each non-surgical treatment is a quick outpatient procedure allowing you to leave the hospital on the same day. There is no recovery time and you can return to your normal routine immediately.

When used for facial contouring, Botox® delivers results over a period of a few days to two weeks after treatment, giving your skin a softer, smoother appearance. However, one must realise that the effect wears off over several months and the skin will return to its natural state. Treatments can be repeated as often as required to maintain a less wrinkled appearance. Treatment costs vary with the amount of Botox® (men usually require more than women), the location of the treatment and the number of areas to be treated.

Mesobotox is the latest Botox® injection technique for refining and rejuvenating faces. Microinjections of very small doses of Botox® are distributed all over the face to smooth out fine wrinkles and improve the sheen of the skin.

Wrinkle treatments with variable-strength Dermal Fillers

Restylane® and new dermal fillers are injection products based on acid which are used to safely and effectively reduce lines, folds and wrinkles on aging skin. Restylane is a clear gel that is similar to the hyaluronic acid produced naturally by the body and can hydrate and add volume to your skin at the injection area to give you a natural, younger look.

Lips can also be given fuller appearance. Restylane® is injected beneath creases or wrinkles between nose and mouth, to fill the lips and also in other areas, including the forehead, chest and hands. Your skin is immediately smoother and softer. Dermal filler products also enhance collagen production, resulting in skin revitalisation immediately after injection.

Generally speaking, Botox tends to be very good for wrinkles in the upper part of the face where the skin is much thinner and most of the wrinkles are caused by active muscle movement (frown lines, crow’s feet, worry lines etc.), whereas dermal fillers are more suited for areas in the face below the eyes.

Improvement of deep wrinkles and folds can be limited with dermal fillers, and can be an indication of a facelift.

Human Fat (“Lipofilling”)

Fat taken from your own body can also be used as an injectable filler. Prior to injection fat must be “harvested” or extracted from your tummy, thighs or buttocks using liposuction techniques. For this reason, fat injections are a more involved procedure than injections with dermal fillers. Once injected into soft tissue, the fat provides a long term correction and the enhancement achieved is considered permanent, although it will diminish with age.

Non-surgical Restoration of the Face with Fillers

Modern variable thickness skin fillers allow us to combat the deflation and sagging of the facial features without resorting to surgery. Also called the “non-surgical facelift”, this procedure is used to restore the youthful contours of the cheeks, temples, chins and nasolabial folds.

Non-surgical Nasal Augmentation with Fillers (“non-surgical rhinoplasty”)

In this very popular procedure, modern skin fillers provide an alternative to nasal surgery for the fast-growing number of patients who are uncertain about having nasal surgery to enhance their nasal profile. With the right choice of fillers, results can last up to a year with no surgery, no down time and a natural looking, enhanced nose within minutes.

All plastic surgery procedures, from medical consultation and surgery to post-surgical care, are performed in one place: FV Hospital. You will receive dedicated care from highly skilled and experienced surgeons and nurses from admission to discharge, all of whom have the latest advances in equipment and technology at their fingertips. Rest assured, you will be treated by experts in their field and benefit from a world-class service at every step of your treatment.

Eyelid Skin Fold Creation (for Asian eyes)

The experienced surgeons at FV Hospital can create natural-looking “double eyelids” using closed method surgery with minimal swelling and scarring. Results can be achieved with very little downtime following surgery.

This surgery of the eyelids corrects droopy upper eyelids and puffy bags below the eyes. Droopy upper eyelid conditions are corrected through incision within the natural crease of the upper eyelid, allowing removal of deposited fat as well as muscle and tissue tightening. Removing excess skin is also an option. Lower eyelid conditions may be corrected with an incision just below the lower lash line allowing removal of excess skin. A trans-conjunctival incision (one hidden inside the lower eyelid) is an alternative technique to correct lower eyelid conditions and also to redistribute or remove excess fat. Incisions are made so that the scars will be well concealed within the natural eyelid structure. Blepharoplasty can be done as a single procedure or in conjunction with other facial surgery, such as a face or brow lift to remove crow’s feet, wrinkles or lift sagging eyebrows to help restore your youthful appearance.

Nose surgery (Rhinoplasty)

It is not uncommon for people to be uncomfortable with the way their nose appears. It can be too big, small, wide or thin or be too angular, hooked or have too many bumps. FV Hospital’s cosmetic surgeons can reshape your nose through rhinoplasty, a procedure in which the nasal skin is separated from its supporting framework of bone and cartilage, and the framework is then formed into the desired shape. Surgery will be consistent with your specifications and the surgeon’s preferred technique. Sometimes, FV Hospital surgeons perform rhinoplasty from within the nose, making their incision in the nostrils. Others prefer an “open” procedure, especially with more challenging cases. During your initial consultation, your FV Hospital surgeon will examine your nose closely and discuss available options for the rhinoplasty to yield the best results. Many patients schedule blepharoplasty or face lift surgery in conjunction with rhinoplasty to create a harmonious facial balance.

Browlift can help revitalise drooping, wrinkled foreheads, which creates a tired or “angry” look in some patients. With the choice of either traditional or minimally invasive (endoscopic) methods, the muscles above the eyes are altered to smooth wrinkle lines and raise the eyebrows for a more youthful appearance.

As we age and our neck muscles weaken, our facial skin loosens and wrinkles. Many factors can cause the skin to lose suppleness, including prolonged sun exposure, weight fluctuation and heredity. Facelifts can address these problems by firming and tightening the skin of face and neck, most effectively for the lower face (jowls and neck). For full facial rejuvenation, facelifts are frequently done in conjunction with other procedures such as blepharoplasty or rhinoplasty. A popular misconception is that the skin texture will be changed by a facelift. Acne scars, age spots, fine lines and smoker’s skin creasing will soon return with their original texture, no matter how tight the skin is pulled. A facelift will not give someone beautiful skin unless they already have beautiful skin. Additional treatments may be needed and can be discussed with our specialists.

Ear Surgery

Ears can have many shapes and appearances. Perhaps your ears stand out, and you feel like you need to hide them behind your hair? If this sounds familiar, FV Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology has a solution. The simple procedure reshapes the ear cartilage by making small incisions until the desired shape is achieved. Stitches hold the cartilage in position and surplus tissue will be removed with incisions which are not noticeable. Scars, which are vertical, are hidden in the crease behind the ears.

An alternative to cheek implants is the injection of fat taken from your own body (“lipofilling”). Prior to an injection, fat must be “harvested” or extracted from your tummy, thighs or buttocks using liposuction techniques. Once injected into soft tissue, the fat provides a long term correction and the enhancement achieved is considered permanent, although it will diminish with age.

Chin (Mentoplasty)

Many find their chin, an important component of the face, is not prominent enough. We can help you attain a more pronounced appearance by surgically reshaping the chin with an implant. Implants are inserted inside the lower lip in a cavity which is surgically created by a simple incision, which is a safer method and limits scarring. The elastic silicone implants are available in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Those undergoing nose surgery often also consider chin surgery, as the two, when combined, give a more balanced appearance. Liposuction of the submental area is also popular to remove excess skin and fat under the chin to accentuate your desired new look.

Liposuction of the submental area

Liposuction of the neck and jowls is clinically one of the most rewarding procedures in aesthetic surgery. With this short, low-risk, relatively inexpensive procedure, patients can achieve a dramatic change in their appearance.

Facial reconstructive surgery

Our plastic surgeons team up with maxillofacial surgeons to perform facial reconstructive surgeries. Procedures can help correct prognathism (jaws that project forward), retrusion of the mid-face, a retruding chin, reshape high cheek-bones, transform a square face shape to an oval shape, repair gummy smiles and treat other facial deformities. Facial reconstructive surgery allows patients with facial deformities to achieve their desired appearance and feel more confident.

Breast Enlargement (Breast Implants):

Breast implants can be placed either partially under the pectoralis major muscle (sub-muscular procedure) or on top of the muscle and under the breast glands (sub-glandular procedure), depending on breast tissue thickness and adequate coverage of the implant. Our plastic surgeon will explain the options and recommend the most suitable implant placement to give you a fuller, firmer bust line. The choice of implant filler, implant size, shape and other features will be determined based on your breast anatomy, body type and your desired increase in breast size. Your lifestyle, goals, personal preferences, as well as your plastic surgeon recommendations and sound surgical judgment will all be factors in the final decision.

The incision can be made either in the armpit, around the nipple or areola, which usually enlarge in proportion to the increased breast size, or alternatively in the lower breast crease. Again, your plastic surgeon will advise you on where the incision will be made dependant on the exact type and size of implant.

Your plastic surgeon will start by measuring your breast base width. Cup size will also be discussed as implants come in a variety of sizes. Generally, the larger the cup size you want, the larger the breast implant your surgeon will consider.

Your plastic surgeon will also evaluate your existing tissue to determine if you have enough tissue to cover the breast implant. A breast implant that is too large can result in excessive skin stretch and future corrective surgeries. The implant edges may be apparent post-operatively. Excessively large breast implants may also result in earlier droop or sag.

In addition to size, you will have the option to re-shape your breasts, either to be more rounded or to be shaped like a teardrop.

Two types of breast implant filler materials are used with many different shapes and textures:

  • Saline – a silicone shell filled with sterile saline solution
  • Silicone gel – a silicone shell filled with a viscous silicone gel.

Our saline and silicone gel breast implants are either approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) or carry the European standard CE mark (The CE marking is an acronym of the French “Conformité Européenne”). FV Hospital’s Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology Department offers a choice of brands and types of implants, which are guaranteed for life: McGhan and Mentor implants from America and Eurosilicone implants from France

Breast Augmentation by Lipofilling

Breast augmentation with autologous fat (your own fat) is a recent surgical technique. Fat is harvested in small pieces by liposculpture. The donor sites of choice are the natural fat deposits where volume reduction may be of aesthetic benefit, such as the waistline, the abdomen, the hips, the inner aspects of the thighs and the knees. When necessary, fat may also be aspirated homogeneously from the anterior and lateral aspects of the thighs. The fat is then filtered and reinjected under the skin of the breast and below the breasts in the pectoral muscle, through small incisions of only a few millimetres.

Breast Lift

Time takes its toll on the shape of a woman’s bust: ageing, motherhood, and gravity can have less than desirable effects. A breast lift (with or without implants) restores the curves of your youth. The most common procedure begins with the surgeon making a three-part, anchor-shaped incision. The first incision circles the areola; the second moving vertically down from the areola to the crease beneath the breast and the third moving horizontally beneath the breast, following the natural curve of the crease. The surgeon then removes the unwanted skin, moves the nipple and areola up to a higher position and then brings the skin that was above the areola (in its former position) down and together so as to reshape the breast.

Breast Reduction

Some women find that large breasts are a daily burden, leading to associated problems such as chronic back pain. FV Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology are able to provide patients with a smaller, perkier bust line. Breast reduction surgery is a major operation involving both size reduction and reshaping. FV Hospital surgeons regularly undertake this procedure and the results are extremely positive. Our doctors can also perform surgery for gynecomasty (breast reduction for men).

Each operation varies a little, depending on individual patients, but typically incisions are made around your nipple, from your nipple down to your chest wall and to each side under your breast. The skin over the breast tissue to be preserved is first removed, then the excess breast tissue and skin. The remaining breast tissue is moved to its new position and the skin closed around your new breast mound.

Nipple and Areola Reduction

Nipple reduction is very popular today because certain women feel their nipples are too large, prominent, droopy, out of balance or uncomfortable. The surgery is performed under local anaesthesia and generally takes about one hour to complete, and consequently, you will be able to go home shortly after your surgery.

If you have tried every exercise programme and diet to get rid of stubborn fat with no results, liposuction is an alternative solution. Liposuction can reduce unwanted fat deposits from the abdomen and waist, thighs, calves and ankles, as well as the inner knees, flanks, upper arms and chin, among other places. Depending on the type of liposuction desired, the procedure is performed using a suction device attached to a small, stainless steel instrument called a cannula. In most cases, liposuction is combined with other procedures such as a facelift, breast augmentation or stomach tuck to create a more pleasing and harmonious result. Our team of surgeons can help you look slimmer and improve the contours of your body.

Tummy Tuck (abdominoplasty)

Your new, slimmer and trimmer profile! Despite our best efforts to eat correctly and exercise regularly, often nothing seems to work and a flat and well-toned abdomen can be elusive. Even people with otherwise normal body weight and proportions can develop a protruding stomach as a result of aging, pregnancy, significant weight fluctuations, heredity or prior surgeries. A tummy tuck removes excess skin from around the waist and scarring or stretch marks from the abdominal area, creating a smoother, smaller and firmer profile. The first incision will be made from one hip bone to the other, above the pubic region. A second is made to detach the navel from the surrounding tissue. The size will depend on how much skin and fat needs to be removed. A scar will result from the stomach tuck that extends across the lower part of the abdomen and, in some cases, around the navel.

Arm Liposuction and Arm Lift

Many people feel self-conscious about fat deposits and loose, sagging skin under their arms. An arm lift can help. Depending on the amount of skin and the degree of excess, the surgical incision can be totally hidden within the armpit or be of variable length located on the inside of the arm in an unremarkable position. Liposuction can be performed alone or in combination with an arm lift.

Thigh Liposuction

Thigh liposuction can get rid of those deposits of fat on your thighs that never seem to go away. Plastic surgery can help remove excess fat from various parts of your upper legs and tighten the skin left behind, giving your legs a sleek attractive appearance with minimum downtime required.

Thigh Lift

Loose, sagging and excess skin on the thighs is a source of frustration for millions, often as a result of losing weight or following pregnancy, among other causes. FV surgeons can remove excess skin and give your thighs the firmer, more contoured appearance you have been striving for.

Buttock Lift

For those with unpronounced or sagging buttocks, this is a popular solution to create eye-catching curves and firmness. It requires the placement of implants to give a more pronounced appearance (this procedure is also called “buttock augmentation”). FV Hospital’s Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology Department uses a soft and leak-proof material called an elastomer. The implants are located inside the muscle and above the sitting area so that you never sit directly on them.

Vaginal labiaplasty and vaginoplasty have become increasingly popular procedures. Many women are understandably dissatisfied by vaginal looseness, enlarged or irregular labia and loss of sexual satisfaction. The Plastic Surgery and Cosmetology Department offers solutions for these very personal concerns.

Vaginal Labiaplasty

This very simple procedure, also usually done under local anaesthesia, involves a small incision and removal of excess labial tissue.

The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia by removing excess vaginal lining and tightening the surrounding soft tissue and muscles. Patients should be at least eighteen years of age before considering vaginoplasty.

In addition to helping to remodel your appearance, anti-aging treatments are beneficial in managing mental and physical diseases.

The new concept of anti-aging medicine is based not only on the therapeutic power of hormones, but also on the therapeutic efficacy of the various components of lifestyle. Inadequate lifestyle and hormone imbalance associated with age can lead to functional disorders, chronic diseases and premature aging. By correcting a patient’s lifestyle and rebalancing their hormones through the intermediary of both epigenetic and hormonal mechanisms, these pathological processes can be prevented, slowed, stopped or even reversed.

Dr Tran Huu Hanh can help you to slow the aging process and prevent diseases through an understanding and adoption of key principles across the pillars of anti-aging.

  • Relaxing and sleeping to allow the body to heal
  • Nutrition to help the body fight diseases, such as heart disease or cancer
  • Physical exercises
  • Stress management and emotion control
  • Body detoxification to prevent diseases

Disease prevention

By adopting changes within these lifestyle pillars, you can prevent injuries to the musculoskeletal structures (fibromyalgia and osteoporosis), reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease and even prevent the development of cancer.

Treatment of various disorders

A comprehensive anti-aging regimen can help to reshape your body. You can combat abdominal obesity caused by an irregular metabolism, or aesthetic attributes such as wrinkles and hair loss. By discussing your individual concerns, Dr Tran Huu Hanh can devise a daily protocol that can combat mental disorders, such as a lack of determination and confidence, depression and anxiety, stress or a feeling of being “burned out”, and memory loss. The pillars of anti-aging can also be used as a platform to correct sexual disorders, such as impotence or sexual disorders in women, as well as insomnia, pain and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.

And, as the name suggest, the seven pillars of aging can be applied to ease the transition through menopause and andropause (male menopause), and combat osteoporosis.

Safe and efficient hormone therapy with bio-identical hormones

We prescribe optimal doses of premium quality, bio-identical hormones produced by the world’s leading manufacturers. Bio-identical hormones have exactly the same structure as those naturally secreted by the body.
