What You Should Know About Deposit

WHY A DEPOSIT?

A deposit is required to guarantee that there are enough funds available to cover the estimated cost of your hospitalisation.

For patients hospitalised with a package (surgical, endoscopic, obstetric, interventional cardiology cases), the deposit amount is equal to the estimated hospitalisation cost plus a small amount to cover unexpected expenses. For medical and paediatric hospitalisations, the deposit is equal to the average cost of 3 days of hospitalisation.

For insured patients, a deposit is required when the insurance company has not yet issued a guarantee of payment (GOP). A deposit is also required when the GOP does not fully cover the estimated hospitalisation cost.

During the pre-admission process, the FV admission officer will let you know the deposit amount and how to make a deposit.

If, during your hospitalisation, the actual expenses exceed the deposit, you will be required to make a “deposit top-up” whose amount will be based on the estimated cost of 3 more days of hospitalisation.

HOW TO MAKE A DEPOSIT?

The deposit can be made:

  1. By cash
  2. By bank transfer to a FV Hospital’s bank account:

  1. By credit/debit card:
  • Option 1: pay the full deposit by credit card
  • Option 2: pre-authorisation
    • Pre-authorisation which is a common process used in most hotels worldwide. A pre-authorisation is a temporary hold, by your own issuing bank, of a specific amount of the available balance on your credit or debit card. A pre-authorisation is not a charge and no funds have been debited from your account. The pre-authorisation guarantees that the funds will be available to pay for the specified deposit.
    • Upon discharge, when paying for the hospitalisation, you can use the locked funds. If you use another payment means, for example another credit/debit card, then the pre-authorisation funds will be unlocked by your issuing bank automatically, usually within 15 to 20 working days.
    • In Vietnam, pre-authorisation can be done only for 5 days therefore at day 5 you can pay the expenses already incurred with the locked funds and either make a second pre-authorisation or use another payment means for the additional deposit.
  1. By OnePAY, an online payment portal that enables consumers to pay for transactions on the Internet.
    • OnePAY should be essentially used when the payer is outside Vietnam.
    • OnePay accepts payment by Visa, Master, Amex, JCB.
    • Our staff will send an OnePay link with the FV Hospital details, your details and the amount of the deposit to the person who will pay via email, Viber, WhatsApp or Zalo.
    • The payer then enters his/her credit/debit card details.

WHEN MAY I GET A REFUND OF MY DEPOSIT?

  • After your insurance issued a GOP
  • Upon discharge:
    • If you paid the deposit by cash, bank transfer or credit/debit card, the difference between your deposit and the actual hospitalisation cost will be refunded to you.
    • In case of pre-authorisation, funds will be unlocked by your issuing bank automatically, usually within 15 to 20 working days.

HOW MAY I GET THE DEPOSIT REFUND?

  • Credit/debit card deposits must be refunded using the same credit/debit card.
  • Deposit paid by cash or bank transfer can be refunded either way but cash refund can only be done for a maximum of VND200 million
