On the afternoon of 24th April, 2024, FV Hospital organised a special event to celebrate World Secretary’s Day. The ceremony took place in a warm and fervent atmosphere, gathering numerous members of the Board of Directors, guests, and over 130 medical secretaries, executive assistants, and administrative support staff for patients.
In the opening speech, representing FV Hospital’s Board of Directors, Mr Mohd Fazli Shuib (Quality Management Director) expressed, “I truly appreciate your abilities. Your work demands a multitude of skills, particularly the ability to adapt in interacting with a diverse range of personalities.” He also extended congratulations and gratitude on behalf of the Board of Directors to the secretary team for their significant contributions in coordinating various activities throughout the patient care and treatment process.
Mr Fazli expressed his admiration for the detailed characteristic of the secretaries’ work.
During the ceremony, on behalf of his colleagues, Dr Luong Ngoc Trung (Head of Thoracic, Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Department) conveyed some thoughts. Dr Trung recalled memories from his career at FV, emphasising the important role of medical secretaries in his medical profession. He also empathised with the dual challenges of a hectic workload and dealing with patient’s and their family complaints, as well as “emotional instability” of our doctors. “Personally, I pledge to minimise moments of ’emotional instability’ to bring a better working environment for our secretaries,” Dr Trung cheerfully shared his commitment.
Dr Trung’s sharing was meticulously prepared, reflecting his thoughtful consideration for the occasion.
In the same spirit of honouring the work of our secretaries, the event welcomed an inspiring tale from Ms Carina Oanh Hoang (Hospitality Services Manager). She emphasised, “Doctors are crucial as they treat patients, but equally important are medical secretaries as they help alleviate pressure for the doctors.” Additionally, Ms Carina outlined the evolution of the secretarial profession over time, highlighting its adaptability in various pressures. She also encouraged secretaries to always be ready for innovation, aiming to build a more fulfilling career.
Meanwhile, with immense gratitude for the dedication to work and the support of the secretaries over the past decade, Dr Vu Truong Son (Deputy Medical Director) delivered unexpected message, diverging from the planned programme. He also expressed special gratitude to three secretaries who had supported him for over 15 years, notably one secretary who had been by his side both at his previous hospital and at FV.
Dr Son highlighted that the secretaries had contributed significantly to the success of his career.
Finally, the entire audience was captivated by the compelling thoughts by Ms Thai Vi Phuong, as she spoke about the role of being a “thousand-families daughter-in-law” at FV. The stories and experiences that Ms Phuong brought forth revealed the challenges of the job of “pleasing others,” yet they were equally intriguing and carried significant humanistic meaning. “I personally believe that when we do something for others with kindness and without expecting anything in return, we will surely receive similar goodness in return,” Ms Phuong shared.
Ms Vi Phương’s sharing portrayed a positive image of the medical secretary profession.
The event also featured games related to the various skills required in the work of medical secretaries. This allowed everyone to both test their abilities and relax with laughter, along with many interesting gift.
Medical secretaries, executive assistants, and administrative support staff play a vital role at FV Hospital. As Dr Luong Ngoc Trung mentioned, their professionalism and dedication serve as connection, driving the flow of work within the hospital’s bloodstream, thereby ensuring safe and high-quality healthcare services for patients.
Many of them have started their medical secretary careers at FV and decided to commit their careers to the hospital.
