From the 14th to 18th of September, 2020, FV Hospital organized a week-long event to mark Patient Safety Week and spread the message “Gearing Towards Zero Harm – Unite For Safe Care”. With many useful and exciting activities being held, this was the chance for all staff of FV to boost their knowledge in providing patient safety. The event also raised awareness of the staff’s responsibilities in implementing and adhering to safety policies in preparation for JCI approval of the hospital in 2021.
During the week-long event, activities held included contests about patient safety for all staff as well as numerous prize-winning games to enjoy in the lobby of FV Hospital, these included: Patient Safety Photo Contest, Patient Safety Group Photo and Tagline Contest, Patient Safety Writing Contest.

Accident & Emergency Department with tagline“Safety Isn’t Expensive, It’s Priceless”.
The Medical Secretary Tean won the first prize in the Patient Safety Group Photo and Tagline Contest.
In the Auditorium of FV Hospital, doctors and medical staff were given further training and more knowledge on patient safety with the goal of bringing even better services to our patients. Some of the practical topics included:
- Medication Safety
- Patient and Family Engagement
- Post-Operative Care of Patient
- Project Zero Harm
Through this patient safety awareness raising event, all staff at FV are now better placed to ensure the safety of patients throughout the hospital.
At FV Hospital, ensuring the safety of our patients is one of our core values and is subsequently an area which is always maintained and continuously updated. Additionally, these high standards are required to achieve JCI accreditation to provide international quality healthcare services. Achieving such accreditation requires a unified effort on all fronts, from modern infrastructure, safe medical technology and equipment, correct management and use of drugs, well-informed patients, well-trained and dedicated medical staff, to a favourable working environment, among others
