Only in two days, 12th and 13th March 2015, Dr. Edmund Wong, Vice Medical Director of Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and Dr. Laurence Lim, Senior Consultant, Vitreo-Retinal Service, SNEC, are going to directly provide their consultation and treatments to patients at Ophthalmology, FV Hospital. They are two experienced ophthalmologists in performing surgical treatment to retinal conditions at both adults and children.
The retinal conditions, including proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR), age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, macular disorder, (macular hole, epiretinal membrane, retinal detachment due to traction, myopic macular schisis) and typically, retinal condition in children often cause sudden vision reduction and even permanent vision loss.
The retinal conditions often develop with invisible symptoms, which just can be identified by using specialized medical equipment. Therefore, you should have eye screening at least one per year or take screening test as recommended by your doctors. Those who are elder, suffering myopic, or diabetics, children born prematurely before 34th week of pregnancy.
Early detection of retinal conditions will help patients to receive timely treatments and avoid serious complications, which may cause vision reduction and loss.
