As of 5th May 2021, more than 95% of the FV hospital staff received the vaccination against COVID-19, increasing the safety to our staff in treatment and patient care. This action also contributes to increasing community immunity and reducing the possibility of cross infection in the hospital. In general, it increases the safety level of the hospital’s operation.
After completing the first dose of Covid-19 vaccination for more than 150 doctors and medical staff at the frontline, from 23rd April to 4th May, FV Hospital was approved by the Ministry of Health to continue using the AstraZeneca vaccine for the remaining 900 hospital staff including doctors, nurses, medical secretaries, security guards, sales team, customer service staff, maintenance staff, technicians, cleaning and kitchen staff, and laundry staff. Most of the hospital staff were excited to get the vaccination understanding they are bringing safety to themselves, their patients and the community during this epidemic.
FV Hospital arranges a separate vaccination area for staff and assigned staff to monitor possible post-vaccination reactions for 30-minute, using QR codes. In addition, the group of vaccinated staff have to update and report their responses within seven days via the software system, in accordance with the regulations of the HCMC Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
Until now, more than 1,000 employees vaccinated have had no significant reactions following the vaccine. The second doses for the staff will take place on 10th May (4 weeks after the first injection). This will take place at FV as the hospital has the safest standards for vaccinations.
FV is a frontline hospital for fighting the epidemic. It is also one of the first private hospitals to be allocated the AstraZeneca vaccine by the Ministry of Health for its medical staff. In addition, FV is the first private hospital in Vietnam to be licensed by the Ministry of Health to have full capacity to provide the test for Covid-19 because of its capacity in facilities, biosafety, human resources and expertise, equipment, quarantine process and testing procedures. In fact, by screening, isolation, sampling and closed testing, FV has proven it can safely and correctly handle positive Covid-19 cases.
“With the context of the limited vaccine resource, the fact that FV Hospital was allocated more than 1,000 AstraZeneca vaccines by the Ministry of Health is an encouragement for the hospital to continue its efforts in fighting COVID-19 at the frontline. Additionally, it helps reduce the risk for healthcare workers and minimise the possibility of cross-infection in the hospital, and increase the overall safety level in the hospital’s operation”, said Ms Pham Thi Thanh Mai – Chief Operating Officer of FV Hospital.
In recent months, the Covid-19 screening process has been strictly implemented at FV Hospital’s entrances to prevent the spread of the disease. Specifically, patients and their visitors will answer epidemiological screening questions regarding suspected symptoms. Patients with no suspected or epidemiological factors will be granted permission to enter the building for examination and treatment. People from areas that have seen rising cases, who have had contact with a person infected by Covid-19 or have related symptoms are transferred to a negative-pressure screening room for further investigation and testing, This precaution is applied during wait times for testing results. If the patient is positive with Covid-19, they will be transferred to the Tropical Disease Hospital to be treated, following the instruction of the Ministry of Health. FV Hospital has actively trained its staff and doctors so that everyone clearly understands all protocols for isolation and infection prevention. Because of these meticulous processes, there have been no cases of cross-contamination of Covid-19 at FV Hospital.
