With continuous advancements in medicine, significant strides have been made in the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic trauma. To keep medical professionals up to date with the latest developments and provide a platform for academic exchange, FV Hospital is organising a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme titled Approach to Orthopaedic Trauma Issues Based on Evidence-Based Medicine. The event will take place from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on 12/04/2025, at Thames Hall, 1st Floor of the Riverside Palace Convention Center – 360D Ben Van Don, Ward 1, District 4, Ho Chi Minh City.
The programme will bring together leading experts in orthopaedic trauma, rehabilitation, musculoskeletal medicine, and anaesthesiology. Scientific presentations will provide a multidimensional perspective, combining the latest research with practical insights to help medical professionals stay current and improve treatment outcomes.

SPEAKERS’ PROFILE:
DO PHUOC HUNG, ASSOC. PROF, HEAD OF ORTHOPAEDICS AND REHABILITATION, UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY (CHAIRMAN)
Associate Professor Do Phuoc Hung is currently the Head of the Orthopaedics Subject and Deputy Head of the Orthopaedics Department at Cho Ray Hospital. He also serves as Year 3 Lead, Head of the Musculoskeletal Module, and Director of the Experimental Surgery Centre.
With extensive experience in teaching and clinical practice, he began his career as a lecturer in the Department of Orthopaedics in 1994. From 2006 to 2015, he served as Deputy Head of the Department and has held the position of Head since 2015.
His areas of expertise include sports medicine orthopaedics, reconstructive microsurgery and hand surgery, arthroscopy, joint reconstruction, trauma rehabilitation, and musculoskeletal disease rehabilitation. With over two decades of dedicated service, he has made significant contributions to enhancing treatment standards and training the next generation of doctors.
LE TRONG PHAT, MD, PHD, HEAD OF DEPARTMENT, ORTHOPAEDICS & HAND SURGERY, FV HOSPITAL (CO-CHAIRMAN)
With nearly 40 years of experience in orthopaedics, Dr Le Trong Phat is currently the Head of Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery at FV Hospital. He previously served as the Deputy Head of the General Surgery and Orthopaedics Surgery Department at Franziskus Hospital in Linz, Germany.
Dr Le Trong Phat graduated from Friedrich-Wilhelms University, Bonn, Germany in 1988, and was awarded a PhD in Orthopaedics from the same institution in 1993. He completed his specialization in General Surgery, Orthopaedic Surgery, and Sports Medicine at Franziskus Hospital, Linz, Germany in 2003. In addition, he holds a Certificate in Acupuncture from Witten-Herdecke University, Witten, Germany, obtained in 1995.
Dr Phat specialises in arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement. Over the course of his career, he has held several senior positions, including: Consultant in Radiology at Herz-Jesu Hospital, Dernbach, Germany (1988–1989); Senior Consultant in Cardiac Surgery at Johanniter Hospital, St. Augustin, Germany (1989–1991); Senior Consultant in General Surgery at Lukas Hospital, Altenkirchen, Germany (1991–1999); Deputy Head of the Department of General and Orthopaedic Surgery at Franziskus Hospital, Linz, Germany (2000–2010); and Head of the Department of Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery at FV Hospital (2010–present).
With a strong professional foundation and extensive experience in orthopaedic treatment and surgery, Dr Le Trong Phat has made significant contributions to the development of the field in Vietnam, introducing advanced and effective treatment methods to benefit patients.
VU TRUONG SON, MD, MSC, MEDICAL DIRECTOR, FV HOSPITAL (ORGANIZING REPRESENTATIVE)
Vu Truong Son, MD, MSc graduated from Hai Phong University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2007 and taught there for two years following his graduation. He earned his Master’s degree in Tropical Diseases and International Health at the Institute of Francophone Tropical Medicine (IFMT) in 2009.
Dr Vu Truong Son began working at FV Hospital in 2013 and officially became the Head of the Infectious Disease Department in 2022. In May 2023, Dr Vu Truong Son additionally took on the role of Deputy Medical Director. Starting from early August 2024, he has been entrusted by the FV Hospital Board of Directors with the position of Acting Medical Director and he officially assumed the position of Medical Director in February 2025.
At FV, Dr Vu Truong Son has always received high trust from the Board of Directors and colleagues for his contributions to important policies such as the Response to Global Infectious Diseases and Infection Control, which have been successfully developed and implemented in the hospital. Additionally, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Son made significant contributions to the Infection Control Unit and Infectious Disease Department at FV.
CAO THANH NGOC, ASSOC. PROF, HEAD OF DEPARTMENT, RHEUMATOLOGY, UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER HO CHI MINH CITY (SPEAKER)
Associate Professor Cao Thanh Ngoc is a leading expert in rheumatology with over 20 years of experience. She currently serves as Head of the Rheumatology Department at the University Medical Center, Ho Chi Minh City, and is a lecturer in the Geriatrics Department at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City. She previously worked in the Rheumatology Department of Cho Ray Hospital, where she made significant contributions to both clinical care and medical research.
A dedicated doctor, Dr Ngoc is committed to staying up to date with and applying the latest treatment methods. She specialises in the diagnosis and management of musculoskeletal conditions, including osteoarthritis of the knee, hip, and shoulder, as well as pain management.

DR TRUONG HOANG VINH KHIEM, SPECIALIST LEVEL II, ORTHOPAEDICS & HAND SURGERY, FV HOSPITAL (MODERATOR)
Dr Truong Hoang Vinh Khiem is currently practising in the Department of Orthopaedics and Hand Surgery at FV Hospital.
Dr Khiem graduated from the University of Medicine, Ho Chi Minh City, in 2010. He went on to obtain a Specialist Level I Degree in 2013 and a Level II Specialist Certificate in 2022, both from the same university. He has also completed advanced training in Arthroscopic Knee Surgery (2012) and microsurgery (2013) at the Ho Chi Minh City Medical University. In addition, he undertook foot surgery training in France (2017) and Germany (2018), and most recently completed shoulder arthroscopy training in South Korea (2024).
Dr Khiem currently specialises in foot and ankle surgery, including management of diabetic conditions. Over 10 years at FV, he has treated numerous complex and rare trauma cases. He also applies advanced techniques in knee and hip replacement to promote faster recovery and minimise pain for his patients.
LY QUOC THINH, MD, MSC, SPECIALIST LEVEL II, HEAD OF ANAESTHESIOLOGY, INTENSIVE CARE & PAIN CONTROL, FV HOSPITAL (SPEAKER)
Dr Ly Quoc Thinh is the Head of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Control at FV Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City. He brings over 25 years of experience in anaesthesiology and pain management and has received extensive training both in Vietnam and internationally.
Dr Thinh graduated as a General Practitioner from Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in 1996, and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in English Language in 2000. He completed an internship at Robert Debre Hospital, Paris, France, in 2001. He went on to earn a Master’s degree in Anaesthesia and Resuscitation at the University of Medicine, Ho Chi Minh City in 2006, followed by a University Diploma in Pain Management from Paris 7 University in 2011. He also completed an Advanced Regional Anaesthesia Certificate (2017 – 2018) and achieved Level II Specialisation in Anaesthesiology from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City in 2021.
Dr Thinh previously worked at Children’s Hospital No.1 from 1997 to 2007, serving as Deputy Head of the Anaesthesiology Department from 2003 to 2007. He joined FV Hospital in 2007, and was appointed Deputy Head of Anaesthesiology, Intensive Care and Pain Control Department from 2013 to 2021. On 1st January 2022, he officially became the Head of the department.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr Thinh has conducted research on “Assessing Nutritional Efficacy in Acute Phase Patients in the Intensive Care Unit.” With his strong expertise and extensive experience, he remains committed to delivering high-quality, safe, and effective care to his patients.
