Dr Do Minh Hung graduated as a Medical Doctor from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Ho Chi Minh City in 1994. He then received a Master of Science in General Surgery in 2004 from the same university. Dr Minh Hung obtained his PhD in Gastroenterological Surgery from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Ho Chi Minh City in 2015.
In addition, Dr Minh Hung as attended many specialised training courses abroad, such as laparoscopic treatment for obesity at the National University Hospital in Singapore (2007) and laparoscopic colorectal surgery at the Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery Centre in Taiwan (2012).
With more than 20 years of experience in General Surgery, especially in Gastroenterology–Hepatobiliary, Dr Minh Hung devotes his time to researching laparoscopic surgery – an advanced technique that has a great deal of benefits for patients, including minimal surgical incisions, less down time and less pain.
When encountering any case, he always strives to offer the treatment that would bring an optimal outcome for patients and further help assert the expertise of the surgeon. During his devotion to medicine, Dr Minh Hung has conducted many valuable scientific studies and published several original papers on surgical techniques, such as D2 lymphadenectomy in laparoscopic surgery for gastric cancer, treatment of oesophageal hiatus hernia by laparoscopic surgery, and thoracoscopic-laparoscopic oesophagectomy in a prone position.
Dr Minh Hung says that his strong wish to apply modern medical knowledge to patient treatment protocols has made him a diligent researcher of simple surgical methods that offer optimal treatment efficacy with less pain and faster recovery times for patients. His two newest studies on laparoscopic surgery for complete mesocolic excision (CME) and treatment of cardia esophageal spasms via laparoscopic surgery demonstrate his devotion and endless passion for research.
Dr Minh Hung has been attached to Binh Dan Hospital for years and has undertaken several key positions here. Before officially taking the role of Head of General Surgery at FV Hospital, Dr Minh Hung was Deputy Head of Gastro-intestinal Surgeryat Binh Dan Hospital. He also used to be a lecturer at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine and taught at Laparoscopic Surgery Centre, Binh Dan Hospital.
Dr Minh Hung is a member of the Vietnam Surgery Association and the Vietnam Association of Endolaparoscopic Surgeons. He regularly endoscopy and laparoscopic surgery conferences in Vietnam and overseas.
