The Patient Safety Week 2024 at FV Hospital, held from 16-20th September, successfully came to an end, after a week of a range of vibrant and meaningful activities. This year’s theme, “Improving Diagnostic for Patient Safety”, with the slogan “Get it right, make it safe”, garnered active participation from both patients and a large number of staff.
Exciting events during the week
Throughout the week, a variety of engaging activities took place at the event booth in the Indochine lobby. Patients, their families, FV staff, and visitors had the opportunity to participate in games with gifts, as well as contribute their thoughts on “diagnostic safety” through the Sharing Board. These initiatives helped spread the event’s message more widely.

A special highlight of the event was the Orange Lighting session, where staff from various departments came together to take pictures against an orange backdrop (the symbolic colour of the event) joining thousands of healthcare organisations worldwide in support Patient Safety Week 2024. These photographs not only fostered a joyful and united atmosphere but also underscored FV’s commitment to ensuring patient safety across all aspects of medical care.

During the event, a photo contest with a commitment slogan centred on the theme of Patient Safety 2024 was held, exclusively for FV staff. The competition received enthusiastic participation from various departments. The official results will be announced before Friday, 27th September, with an awards ceremony taking place at the upcoming Middle Management meeting.
Additionally, the event series featured a range of online and offline presentations from FV experts and Thomson Malaysia – Thomson Kota Damansara Hospital – on 16th, 18th, and 23rd September. The programme was highly successful, providing attendees with valuable and engaging information.
Valuable Insights from three Training Sessions about Enhancing Patient Safety through Improved Diagnosis
Three training sessions on patient safety, featuring speakers from FV Hospital and Thomson Kota Damansara Hospital, provided valuable and practical knowledge about enhancing diagnostic capabilities to ensure patient safety.
The first session commenced with an opening address by Mr Mohd Fazli Shuib, Quality and Risk Management Director cum Head of Pharmacy. He emphasised the importance of accurate diagnosis in ensuring patient safety. Following this, Dr Nguyen Van Te – Head of Nuclear Medicine, shared insights about the department’s work, methods for accurate diagnosis, and the safety of treatment techniques in nuclear medicine.
Mr Fazli emphasised the role of diagnosis in the safe examination and treatment process.
Dr Tran Nhan Tuan – Deputy Head of Cardiology, delivered a presentation clarifying the role of doctors in improving diagnosis. Dr Tuan highlighted the responsibility of the healthcare team for enhancing the quality of treatment and care. Finally, Mr Phan Ngoc Son – Diagnostic Radiographer provided an outstanding presentation in English, offering specific solutions to improve accuracy in imaging diagnosis.
Dr Nhan Tuan shared numerous practical experiences in disease diagnosis.
In the second training session, Mr Friend Maviza – Head of Laboratory & Blood Bank highlighted the importance of safe and accurate testing procedures in medical diagnosis. Following him, Dr Phạm Đình Khương – Acting Head of Imaging, elaborated on the role of radiologists in the entire safe treatment process. He emphasised the necessity of effective collaboration and communication among doctors to ensure patient safety.
Dr Ngo Van Huy emphasised the importance of improving technical quality and enhancing patient awareness to achieve accurate and safe diagnoses.
Meanwhile, Dr Ngo Van Huy – Deputy Head of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department, concluded the training session with a presentation about “Diagnostic Safety in Gastroenterology Procedures.” Drawing on over 20 years of experience in safety culture at FV, Dr Huy provided methods and protocols to minimise risks in these procedures.

The Patient Safety Week 2024 has concluded, but the valuable knowledge and experiences gained from this event will continue to be applied and developed to ensure optimal safety for all patients at FV Hospital who are committed to enhancing the quality of diagnosis and treatment for the safety and health of our community!
