According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), globally each year, 17.5 million people pass away due to cardiovascular diseases. In Vietnam, this disease annually kills more than 200,000 people every year, accounting for 25% of deaths in the country (data from Vietnam Cardiology Congress 2015). With symptoms of cardiovascular diseases being not so visible, those deemed high at risk are people who are over 40 years old; have high blood pressure, have high cholesterol LDL, and are obese. Recently however, more and more young people are also facing cardiovascular diseases.
Cardiovascular diseases can be dangerous, such as high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, arrhythmia, and heart failure. Fortunately, it is possible to avoid these conditions, if risk factors are minimized, and they can be treated successfully if symptoms are found early.

Since the end of 2019, FV Hospital has collaborated with OTB, a partner in medical communication and marketing, to establish the FV Cardiology Patient Club. Individuals deemed to be at high-risk are men or women aged 30 to 45 years old with two or more, or aged 45 years old with one, of the following risk factors:
- Smoking
- High LDL cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Hypertension
- Sedentary lifestyle
- Obesity
- Family history of coronary artery disease
