FV Hospital holds Public Seminar on “Gynaecological Healthcare: Conditions, Treatments & Aesthetics”

In order to provide new and useful information regarding gynaecological health, FV Hospital held a public seminar which focused on “Gynaecological Healthcare: Conditions, Treatments & Aesthetics”. The event took place from 9:00 to 12:00, Saturday, December 14th, 2019 at Kim Do Hotel, 133 Nguyen Hue, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City. The speakers who attended the seminar were doctors working at FV Hospital, who not only showcased useful knowledge about common obstetric and gynaecological diseases, such as dysmenorrhea, and endometriosis, but also referred to modern trends and methods of vaginal rejuvenation and beautification.

Dr Vo Trieu Dat, Senior Doctor of FV Obstetrics and Gynaecology Department held a talk during the event specifically concerning “Dysmenorrhea: How Well Are You Aware of It?” Its objective was to help attendees obtain further knowledge about primary and secondary dysmenorrhea as well as gynaecological treatments and therapies for this most common diseases. Following this talk was a presentation on common, but still unfamiliar, methods of diagnosis and treatment for the majority of women. Being led by Dr Sanguine who works as a Gynaecologist & Obstetrician in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology Department at FV Hospital, this session focused specifically on “Endometriosis”. Lastly, Dr Vinh Lam Vien, Senior Doctor at FV Lifestyle Beauty Clinic, provided information about “Nonsurgical Vaginal Rejuvenation & Beautification”, to support women with aesthetic issues which prevent the need for maximum invasion.

Dysmenorrhea is statistically a condition which more than 50% of women suffering from before and during menstruation. If primary dysmenorrhea is considered a normal physiological phenomenon, with common causes, such as excessive uterine contraction (occurring during menstruation), small hymenal aperture, due to psychology, etc.; secondary dysmenorrhea is considered an alarming symptom for underlying gynaecological conditions. These include; endometriosis, myoma, uterine adhesion, cervical polyps, among others. In particular, endometriosis is easily misidentified to be a common dysmenorrhea symptom. Epidemiological studies indicate that up to 7% – 10% of women in the world have endometriosis and about 40% of women undergoing infertility examination are classified with endometriosis. In summary, it can be seen that endometriosis is one of the main causes of infertility of women.

Endometriosis causes discomfort and pain, reducing the quality of life of women. In particular, the symptoms of endometriosis, one of which is severe pelvic pain during menstruation that is not curable with painkillers, are easily misidentified to be other physiological phenomena, so many women only detect the disease after many years. A concerning result of this is that late treatment of endometriosis may possibly lead to infertility.

There are currently two common methods of treatment, one is using hormonal drugs, of which oestroprogestative combined with oral contraceptives are highly recommended, however, in cases of complex deep endometriosis with invasion, laparoscopic surgery is the most optimal option. “Less invasive laparoscopic surgery not only solves complex endoscopes, but also ensures aesthetic issues. Instead of a long incision used when performing a traditional operation, laparoscopic surgery requires only four small holes in the abdomen. Such an approach helps the patient with prompt healing and provides a quick recovery time. Endoscopic surgery is performed with almost all gynaecological diseases except for ovarian cancer, so patients can be assured when following the doctor’s instructions.”, shared Dr Sanguine.

Another topic discussed at the seminar was “Nonsurgical Vaginal Rejuvenation and Beautification”. The talk sought to help women feel confident and comfortable, and shared on treatments such as; gene therapy, platelet-rich plasma, laser and filler. This topic can be a sensitive area for some women, yet providing them with such information can be life-changing in helping them feel more confident about their own sexuality and sex life. FV Lifestyle Clinic, with a variety of the most advanced beauty technology and a team of highly skilled doctors with years of experience, promises to provide customers with a diversity of beauty enhancement methods.

FV Hospital has the expertise and equipment to administer both open and laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic surgery, also called minimally invasive surgery or keyhole surgery, offers patients less pain, better outcomes and shorter postoperative recovery.  The procedure involves smaller surgical incisions compared to the larger incisions formed in open surgery. A special camera known as a laparoscope, as well as specialised surgical instruments are then passed through the incisions to facilitate surgery. Another even less invasive technique involves entering the abdomen by means of the vagina, enabling the surgery to be performed on internal reproductive organs without the need for an abdominal incision.
