The UMC Colorectal Surgery Conference was held on October 23rd and 24th at Anya Hotel, Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh, by the Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital. Speaking at the conference was Dr Basma M’Barek, Head of Hy Vong Cancer Care Centre at FV Hospital, who shared about advanced radiotherapy techniques in the treatment of colorectal cancer.
During her presentation, Dr Basma emphasized the importance of the role of radiotherapy in the current treatment of colorectal cancer. She shared on the treatment’s ability in helping to locally control tumours, reduce their size, and how it provides a good base for surgery for later treatment. Dr Basma also spoke on the modern radiotherapy techniques which are currently being applied at FV Hospital.
There were many guests attending the conference including numerous medical experts and doctors from the following institutions: Ho Chi Minh University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Oncology Hospital Ho Chi Minh City, Cho Ray Hospital, An Giang General Hospital, Dak Lak General Hospital, Can Tho General Hospital, FV Hospital, and representatives of Binh Dinh General Hospital. Additional topics shared at the conference included: Low Anterior Laparoscopic Surgery, Care for the Skin Opening, Tissue Healing in Machine Stitching, Usage of Energy Tools, as well as Progress in Colorectal Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment.
