To raise community awareness and encourage responsible actions in combating antimicrobial resistance (AMR), FV Hospital joins thousands of healthcare organizations worldwide in observing “World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2024.”
This year’s event runs from 18th to 24th November under the slogan, “Educate. Advocate. Act Now.” Throughout the week, FV will carry out educational and outreach initiatives directed at patients and the broader community to highlight the importance of following prescribed guidelines from healthcare providers.
For healthcare staff, FV Hospital will reinforce its pharmaceutical management system, maintain strict oversight of antibiotic prescriptions, and provide ongoing training to ensure staff stay up to date on antibiotics and antimicrobial resistance trends in Vietnam. These efforts aim to safeguard patient care at every stage, from diagnosis through to prescription and treatment.
Why is Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) a Serious Concern
Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is emerging as one of the most significant threats to global health. When pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites no longer respond to antibiotics, treatment becomes more complex, leading to higher medical costs, prolonged hospital stays, and an increased risk of mortality.
This underscores the importance of safe antibiotic practices in healthcare facilities and the need for community cooperation to ensure responsible and correct antibiotic use. The initiatives planned for “World Antimicrobial Awareness Week 2024” at FV Hospital are designed to promote these vital objectives.
Main Activities During the Week at FV
- Opening Ceremony: Scheduled from 10:00 – 12:30 on Monday, 18th November 2024, at the Indochine lobby.
