To celebrate one of the most important events at FV Hospital, the 2023 Patient Safety Week will take place from 25 – 29 September with many significant activities. The theme of this year’s event is “Engaging patients for patient safety”, aiming to promote the crucial role patients, families and caregivers play in contributing to safety during care.
Research by the World Health Organization (WHO) shows that when patients are involved as partners, or as members of the health care team, it will improve safety, satisfaction and increase treatment effectiveness.
Patients and their family involvement in the treatment process can only be achieved when healthcare agencies actively provide opportunities for patients, families and communities to voice interest and their priorities in their treatment.
To respond to this year’s theme, FV Hospital will run a small campaign to promote the “Speak Up right” on their safety issues. During the event, all medical staff at FV will wear badges on their shirts, with the slogan “Ask me” to encourage patients to share concerns or questions to any staff member regarding their treatment.
At the same time, FV will also release the publications Speak Up and Ask me, to provide more detailed instructions on how to elevate patients’ voices, as well as break down mental barriers when answering questions during treatment.
During this year’s event, FV will contribute to raising public awareness about the role of patients in improving their own safety during examination and treatment. In addition, the medical staff at FV will also participate in training to cultivate new knowledge, to assist patients and maintain their commitment of providing patient safety at the heart of all activities.
Please hold and get ready to join in the activities taking place during the event week at FV. Don’t forget to join us in the “Speak up for patient safety”!
