Quit Smoking Clinic

Smoking Cessation Programme

Quitting smoking is difficult and we’ve got you with clinical support and a direct line to your doctor at every step.

Why Quit with FV?

The FV Smoking Cessation Programme is not just about “giving up”; it is about recovery. We provide a holistic assessment, pharmacotherapy, Traditional Medicine, and psychological support to those who would like to quit smoking but are not sure where to begin or how to continue.

The First Consultation

During this first consultation, we assess your smoking habits and your motivation to quit, create a personalised plan, and choose effective support methods.

  • How many cigarettes do you smoke each day?
  • How soon after waking do you use tobacco?
  • Have you tried to stop in the past? What worked and what didn’t?
  • What is making you want to stop right now?
  • Do you have any health conditions linked to tobacco use?

We provide guidance on the best quitting method for you. While certain pills like bupropion or varenicline are not yet available in Vietnam, we offer high-quality Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) and recommend combining it with Traditional Medicine (acupuncture or thread embedding) to silence physical cravings.

Psychological support: We have specialists who can provide extra support and talk through your difficulties with you. Combining psychological support with Nicotine Replacement Therapy and traditional medicine offers the best success rate, often doubling or tripling the chances of success.

  • Set a specific start date for your quit-smoking journey, it should ideally be within 2 weeks of the visit.
  • Quitting is difficult: Especially at the beginning, you have to be careful in specific situations that trigger the urge to smoke. Write a list of your daily smoking triggers and a list of people who can support you during this time.
  • Withdrawal symptoms: You might feel irritable or have difficulty sleeping. If this happens, please do not hesitate to come back and see us.
  • Weight gain: It is frequent to put on 5–7 kilos over a year, but this is easily preventable. Just walking every day and paying attention to what you eat makes a difference. We will be pleased to introduce you to our nutritionist/dietician.

We see you again soon

Please come back to see us in a week or two so we can see how it is going and we can understand any difficulties you are facing.

Detect the Invisible Damages with a Health Check

Because smoking affects every organ, we always advise to check lungs and heart for smokers and ex-smokers.

  • Lungs: Spirometry to assess your lung function and Low-dose Lung CT scan to detect issues as small as a grain of rice.
  • Heart: Coronoscan (MDCT Coronary Angiography with Calcium Scoring) to evaluate coronary artery health and prevent heart attacks.
  • Vascular System: Doppler scans of the carotids and leg arteries to assess for blockages or hardening.
  • Abdominal Ultrasound Screening to check your aorta, liver, pancreas, bladder, and kidneys for smoking-related abnormalities.
