Ambulatory Care

Lithotripsy

Minimally invasive and effective treatment solutions for kidney and ureteric stones, performed within the same day.

Depending on the size and location of the stone, your doctor will recommend the most appropriate treatment method to achieve the best possible stone clearance outcome.

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL)

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) is a non-invasive treatment for urinary stones that uses high-energy shock waves to break stones into smaller fragments, allowing them to pass naturally through the urinary tract without the need for surgery.

At FV, ESWL is performed using the Modulith® ESWL system manufactured by Storz Medical AG, one of the world’s leading lithotripsy technology providers. This advanced system enhances treatment effectiveness through the combination of three localisation methods: X-ray, ultrasound, and 3D computer-assisted targeting.

After treatment, you will rest under observation while your recovery is monitored. Your doctor will then assess your condition and provide home care instructions before you are discharged on the same day.

Why Choose Same-Day Stone Treatment at FV Hospital?

Combining experienced urologists with advanced technology, FV provides effective and safe treatment solutions for kidney and ureteric stones with same-day discharge.

  • Advanced Technology
Depending on the size, location, and hardness of the stone, your doctor will recommend the most suitable treatment approach for your condition.
  • Minimally Invasive, Maximum Preservation
Most modern stone treatment techniques do not require open surgery, helping minimise tissue damage, reduce pain, and preserve kidney function as much as possible.
  • Same-Day Discharge
Patients are usually able to eat, walk comfortably, and return home safely within 2 to 4 hours after the procedure.
  • Insurance Coverage
FV accepts both National Health Insurance and private health insurance for stone treatment services, helping reduce financial concerns during your care.

With modern laser technology and advanced anaesthesia techniques, patients do not feel pain during the procedure. After treatment, discomfort is usually minimal and can be effectively managed with medication.
