This is why we offer a range of supporting services to meet your needs beyond the treatment room. Oncology Social Worker Our Social Workers are vital members of your healthcare team. They bridge the gap between medical treatment and your daily life. Supportive Counseling: Helping you and your loved ones cope with the emotional impact of a diagnosis. Communication: they help you understand your treatment plan from a practical perspective, provide financial counseling, explain social insurance coverage. Navigating Barriers: Help you and your family navigate the hospital resources. Resource Connection: Recommend additional resources such as clinical psychologist, pain specialist, dietician. Pain Management Cancer pain is controllable, especially when tumours compress bones, abdominal organs, or surrounding structures. Hy Vong Cancer Centre collaborates closely with the Pain Management Unit to design individualized pain-control regimens, helping patients sleep better, maintain daily activities, and preserve emotional strength throughout treatment. Nutrition Counseling Weight loss and malnutrition are among the most common reasons patients are unable to continue treatment. Our dietitians develop personalised meal plans based on the type of therapy, eating ability, and energy needs of each patient. We provide guidance on managing eating-related side effects (such as mouth sores and taste changes) and offer parenteral or tube feeding solutions when necessary to ensure adequate energy, vitamins, and essential nutrients for recovery. Clinical Psychology Support Our clinical psychologists help patients and families overcome psychological shocks, anxiety, and depression following diagnosis. We help individuals cope with changes in body image (such as hair loss or surgical scars), adhere to treatment and maintain hope.
