Complete resection offers the best cure potential. Surgeons also remove affected lymph nodes and surrounding tissues preventing recurrence. Extent depends on tumour size, location and stage.

At FV Hospital, minimally invasive surgery is our standard of care and our preferred surgical approach. Our surgeons use laparoscopic and robotic techniques. With the da Vinci surgical robot, patients can expect better clinical outcomes, less pain, fewer treatment-related complications, shorter hospital stays, and faster recovery.

In addition, protocols for Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) reduce complications and hasten recuperation.

Factors such as the type, size, stage, and location of cancer, along with the patient’s age and physical condition, are considered before recommending surgery. Surgery can be combined with other treatments like radiotherapy, chemotherapy, or hormonal therapy for better results.

Organ Preservation

Hy Vong offers, as often as possible, organ preservation protocols, with or without surgery. 

Organ preservation surgery removes only the tumour and a small portion of healthy tissue that surrounds it, not the entire organ.

By preserving the affected organ, patients can maintain their bodily functions and avoid the need for artificial replacement while minimising the risks associated with complete organ removal. Additionally, organ preservation surgery is less invasive and traumatic, resulting in a faster recovery time and shorter hospital stay while also reducing the costs associated with postoperative care and rehabilitation.
