Sub: A wide spectrum of infections, from mild to severe, including emerging and hard-to-treat conditions that require specialist input. Most infections are straightforward. Most are treated well by a general practitioner or emergency physician. The Infectious Disease Department exists for the ones that are not: infections that are severe, unusual, resistant to treatment, or occurring in patients whose immune system is already compromised by another condition. We also provide expert consultation to every other clinical department at FV, so that infectious complications in surgical, oncological, or critical care patients are managed with the same specialist attention. Common Infectious Diseases Dengue fever Chickenpox and shingles (varicella-zoster) Measles and mumps Hand, foot, and mouth disease Influenza and respiratory viral infections Viral hepatitis (A, B, C, D, E) Severe and Complex Infections Sepsis and septic shock Bacterial meningitis and encephalitis Severe cellulitis and skin and soft tissue infections Osteomyelitis (bone infection) Invasive fungal infections Parasitic infections Difficult-to-Treat and Resistant Infections Multidrug-resistant organism (MDRO) infections, including MRSA, ESBL-producing bacteria, and carbapenem-resistant organisms Healthcare-associated infections Hospital-acquired pneumonia Recurrent or treatment-failing infections Complex wound infections Infections in Immunocompromised Patients Patients undergoing cancer treatment, living with HIV, taking long-term immunosuppressant medications, or recovering from major surgery are at significantly higher risk from infections that would cause minimal harm in a healthy person. Our team has specific expertise in managing this vulnerability: Opportunistic infections in HIV and AIDS Infections in oncology patients receiving chemotherapy or immunotherapy Infections following organ transplantation Fever of unknown origin in immunocompromised patients Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) Confidential, respectful, and thorough assessment and treatment for the full range of sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, syphilis, gonorrhoea, chlamydia, herpes, and HPV-related conditions. Post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) for HIV is available. Emerging Infectious Diseases New pathogens and re-emerging diseases require a department that tracks international surveillance data and is prepared to respond. Our team stays current with WHO and CDC guidance on emerging infectious threats and maintains readiness protocols for outbreak response. [Note to FV team – Important: Please confirm what “Viêm xương tủy xương” refers to in the original Vietnamese content, as this appears to be osteomyelitis, which I have included, but please verify.] —
