The 42nd Annual ENT Scientific Conference, organised by the Ho Chi Minh City ENT Society in collaboration with the Khanh Hoa ENT Association and the Ho Chi Minh City ENT Hospital, recently took place in Khanh Hoa. As the year’s largest scientific conference, it brought together over 800 experts and doctors from across Vietnam. This prestigious forum focused on sharing the latest treatments and practical experiences, all aimed at improving the quality of patient care. Dr Vo Cong Minh, PhD (first from left) presiding as chairperson at the conference Dr Vo Cong Minh, PhD makes a professional impact at the Conference In line with FV Hospital’s focus on clinical research and high-tech applications, FV made a significant impact at this year’s scientific conference. Dr Vo Cong Minh, PhD (Head of the ENT Department), took on a dual role: serving as a Session Chairperson and presenting a topical report titled: “Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty for Recurring Eustachian Tube Dysfunction” (Balloon treatment for repeated ear tube blockage). The report not only provided practical data but also confirmed the outstanding effectiveness of this technique. It offers a definitive solution for ear-related conditions that have traditionally been difficult to treat. Dr Vo Cong Minh, PhD, presented a report titled: “Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty for Recurring Eustachian Tube Dysfunction” (Balloon treatment for repeated ear tube blockage). Balloon Eustachian Tuboplasty (BET): A breakthrough in minimally invasive treatment At FV Hospital, BET has been successfully implemented, offering a path to recovery for patients suffering from persistent tinnitus (ear ringing), hearing loss, or recurrent middle ear infections. This modern procedure provides several outstanding clinical advantages: Gentle Procedure: Using a micro-balloon catheter inserted via nasal endoscopy, the doctor reaches the blocked Eustachian tube. The balloon is then gently inflated for approximately 2 minutes to widen the natural air passage. Minimally Invasive: A key highlight of this technique is that it requires no incisions to the eardrum and leaves no foreign materials or implants in the ear, effectively preserving the natural structure of the auditory system. Rapid Recovery: The entire process takes about 30 minutes. Patients are typically discharged on the same day and can return to their daily activities immediately without the need for complex aftercare. High Success Rate: With an efficacy rate of 85% to 90%, this method is particularly beneficial for individuals who experience ear pain during flights or pressure changes, and for those who have not seen results from traditional ear tube surgery (grommets). FV’s commitment to better care As a pioneer of BET in Ho Chi Minh City, FV Hospital is dedicated to applying the latest medical progress. Our experts regularly join scientific meetings to update their expertise, ensuring safer and more effective care.. By mastering advanced techniques – from balloon tuboplasty to robotic surgery, FV continues to be a trusted medical destination in Vietnam.
