Herpes Zoster (Shingles)

Shingles is a painful blistering rash caused by reactivation of the chickenpox virus. It can also cause severe nerve pain that can last for months. Shingles can happen to anyone who has had chickenpox but is most common in adults aged 50 years and older.

Recommended For

Adults aged 50+
Individuals aged 18+ with weakened or suppressed immune systems due to medical conditions or treatment therapies.

Schedule

Adults aged 50 years and older: Two doses administered 2–6 months apart.
Adults aged 18 years and older at increased risk or who are immunocompromised: Two doses administered 2–6 months apart. In certain high-risk individuals, the second dose may be given 1–2 months after the first dose based on medical advice.

Common side-effects

You may experience mild side-effects following vaccination. Most side-effects last no more than a couple of days and are part of the immune system’s natural response to the vaccine.

Common reactions include:

Pain, swelling and redness at the injection site
Headache
Fatigue
Mild fever
Muscle, body aches.
