FV Hospital Organises a Public Seminar on ‘Healthy Ageing: Nutrition and Musculoskeletal Healthcare Strategies for Elderly’

Elderlu often face many health changes, particularly issues related to nutrition and the musculoskeletal system such as degeneration, osteoporosis, or spinal pain. With the desire to accompany seniors and provide comprehensive care solutions, FV Hospital is organising a public seminar themed “Healthy Ageing: Nutrition and Musculoskeletal Healthcare Strategies For Elderly”, aiming to support a healthier, more confident senior community.
The seminar is designed for patients, families members, and the elderly community, offering useful knowledge, updates on healthcare methods, and opportunities to engage directly with FV doctors and nutrition experts.

SPEAKER PROFILE: Dr Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu – Head of Dietetics & Nutrition Department, FV Hospital; Vice President of the Vietnam Dietetic Association (2019 – 2024) Dr Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine in General Medicine from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City in 1999. She then received a Specialist Level 1 degree in Internal Medicine in 2007 and a Specialist Level 2 degree, also in Internal Medicine, in 2011 from Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy. Concurrently, she earned a Master’s degree in Nutrition from Japan Women’s University in 2008 and a Master’s in Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism from Europe in 2019. Dr Quynh Thu has also participated in numerous specialized training courses both domestically and internationally, such as Total Parenteral Nutrition in Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Indonesia; Clinical Nutrition and Nutrition Support Teams in Japan; and the LLL ESPEN program organized in Denmark, Poland, Spain, the Philippines, and Vietnam. Dr Quynh Thu has over 20 years of experience in clinical nutrition in internal medicine treatment. Notably, she was the Head of the Nutrition Department at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital and has over 15 years of experience managing nutrition departments. Additionally, Dr Quynh Thu has participated in examining and treating patients in several important specialties such as Gastrointestinal Internal Medicine (2000 – 2005), Nephrology Internal Medicine (2005 – 2006), and Endocrinology Internal Medicine (2006 – 2015) at Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital. Dr Quynh Thu officially joined FV Hospital in February 2016 as a Senior Treating Doctor in the Clinical Nutrition Department. She then served as Head of the Nutrition & Dietetics Unit at FV Hospital from 2017 to 2021, and since May 2021, Dr Nguyen Viet Quynh Thu has officially been appointed Head of Dietetics & Nutrition Department at FV Hospital. Dr Quynh Thu also holds the position of Vice President of the Vietnam Dietetics Association (VDA) (2019 – 2024). In addition to her professional work in the department, Dr Quynh Thu regularly organizes and teaches clinical nutrition training classes for medical staff, participates in establishing forms and nutrition treatment protocols within the hospital. She also actively communicates and educates the public about nutrition through patient clubs and communities, participates in television programs for nutrition counseling, and writes articles on nutrition topics, etc. Dr Nguyen Thi Kim Huong, Specialist Level II – Rheumatology Unit – Internal Medicine Department, FV Hospital Dr Nguyen Thi Kim Huong is currently working at Rheumatology Unit – Internal Medicine Department, FV Hospital. She holds a Specialist Level II degree with a focus on musculoskeletal medicine, concentrating on the diagnosis and treatment of common conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, gout, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, spinal pain and other musculoskeletal disorders. Throughout her practice, Dr Huong has gained extensive experience in managing a wide range of cases, from mild to complex. She combines medical treatment with lifestyle modification guidance and rehabilitation to help patients control symptoms, improve mobility and reduce the risk of long-term complications. In addition to treatment, Dr Huong places great emphasis on patient counselling, particularly in prevention, nutrition and exercise tailored to each stage of illness, especially for elderly patients and those with chronic conditions. With her dedication to rheumatology, Dr Nguyen Thi Kim Huong is a valued member of FV Hospital’s medical team, supporting patients throughout their healthcare journey and providing treatment solutions that are both appropriate and in line with current medical guidelines. Dr Do Thanh Long, Specialist Level I – Geriatric Clinic, FV Hospital Dr Do Thanh Long is a Specialist Level I in Cardiology and currently serves as a Senior Physician in the Geriatrics Clinic at FV Hospital. He graduated as a Medical Doctor from Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2001, before completing his Specialist Level I in Geriatrics at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City. In addition, Dr Long has received advanced training in Cardiology and Echocardiography, as well as Emergency and Critical Care in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. With more than 20 years of experience, Dr Long has worked at several major hospitals in different roles, including Can Tho Central General Hospital, Hoan My Cuu Long Hospital, and Nguyen Tri Phuong Hospital, before joining FV Hospital. His clinical expertise focuses on cardiovascular conditions such as ischaemic heart disease, heart failure, cardiac emergencies, and interventional cardiology, alongside the use of echocardiography for diagnosis and patient monitoring. In his medical practice, Dr Long combines pharmacological treatment with comprehensive care and long-term follow-up to help patients achieve stability, reduce symptoms, and improve quality of life. He also provides guidance on lifestyle, nutrition, and complication prevention for patients with chronic heart disease.
