FV Hospital Prepares To Secure The Jci Gold Seal Of Approval For The Second Time

After earning Joint Commission International accreditation – the gold standard in international healthcare – in 2016, FV Hospital has continued its sustainable development and confirmed its reputation for providing high quality healthcare services.
Before next year’s triennial JCI accreditation hospital survey (which will take place from January 14 – 18, 2019), the hospital will prepare for assessment by hosting the event “GO FOR GOLD FOR OUR PATIENTS!” from November 26 to December 30, 2018. During this period, FV’s JCI task force will organise a wide range of activities to raise awareness of JCI standards, update staff on the latest developments in healthcare, and recommit to continuing to offer patients safe, premium care and services. Activities will be undertaken from the JCI Event Booth on the ground floor of V Building. Every member of staff will receive a handbook of JCI’s recommendations including the most relevant tips on how to comply with the different JCI standards. 1. Take a quiz, receive a gift
  • Every day, staff members are invited to answer three questions at the event booth. By giving three correct answers, you will receive a special gift; if you get one or more wrong, you’re welcome to try again the following day.
2. JCI Slogan Challenge
  • Staff members, teams and departments are invited to compose their own slogan of commitment at the JCI event booth. Colouring pens, crayons, A3 and A4 paper will be made available at the booth.
  • After composing your slogan, take a photo with it – the organising team will print and exhibit all photos at the booth.
  • The creators of the five best photos, chosen by jurors for satisfying the criteria of creativity and relevance, will receive gifts from the organising team.
3. JCI Task Force teams create JCI slogans of commitment
  • Each of the 12 JCI task force teams will compose slogans of commitment corresponding to the JCI chapter they oversee.
  • Photos of every team and their slogans will be exhibited at the JCI event booth until 3 pm on November 29, 2018.
  • The three teams with the most votes for their photos will win!
4. JCI online courses
  • All FV staff members are required to attend the JCI online course and test on the intranet. Test scores will be announced on the system on November 21.
  • The staff members who finish the test first and those that score highest will receive a personal award.
  • A team award will be given to the department with the highest number of staff members taking the test.
5. Patient Safety talks Well-versed, motivational speakers will talk on topics related to Patient Safety.
  • Presentations on Monday, November 26, 2018, for doctors only:
    • Openness in Communication – Giving feedback when errors occur – Presenter: Dr Vo Trieu Dat
    • Non-punitive responses to errors and the frequency of reported incidents – Presenter: Dr M’Barek Basma
  • Presentation on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, for all staff:
    • Openness in Communication – Presenter: Ms. Jessica L. Rodriguez.
    • Non-punishment response to errors – Presenter: Ms. Phạm Thị Thanh Mai
  • Time: 12.30 pm to 1.30 pm, both days
  • Venue: Auditorium, third floor, F Building

Poster design competition: JCI’s International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG) Each department or unit should create a Poster related to one of the IPSG standards below:
  1. Patient identification.
  2. Verbal and/or telephone communication (read-back process)
  3. Handover communication (forms/tools/method)
  4. High-alert medication storage (look-alike/sound-alike)
  5. Preoperative verification and surgical/invasive procedure site-marking. The correct patient, correct procedure, and correct site are verified; (checklist /mechanism)
  6. Hand-washing and hand-disinfection procedures
  7. Fall risk prevention and reduction (screening tools/methods)
  • Points will be awards according to the following criteria :
  • 1. Relevance to the IPSG standard selected (45%) – knowledge and information shared effectively
  • 2. Creativity and Impact (45%) – attractive, concise, easy to understand
  • 3. Popular vote (10 %)
  • Poster making rules:
  • 1. Materials and media: A2 Paper, provided by MRD; any creative media can be used to decorate the paper.
  • 2. Each design should be original and either made by hand or using computer graphics. Copied work will be disqualified.
  • 3. For submission, please send to Medical Record Department (Mr. Rahman) before Nov 22, 2018.
  • All posters will be displayed in the booth.
  • – The three best posters will be selected by judges.
6. Closing, Awarding of Contest Winners and Declaration of Commitment to Patient Safety ceremony
  • Time: 12 pm on Friday, November 30, 2018
  • Venue: Auditorium, 3rd Floor, F Building
