If you have tried antidepressants and they have not worked, there is another option available at FV. It is called rTMS, short for Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation. The name sounds complex but the experience is straightforward. You sit in a comfortable chair. A small device is placed near your head. It delivers gentle magnetic pulses to a specific area of the brain involved in mood. You feel a light tapping sensation. You stay awake the whole time. When the session ends, you go home. There is no surgery. No anaesthesia. No effect on your memory or thinking. Each session takes between 20 and 40 minutes. rTMS is not for everyone. Your psychiatrist will assess whether it is appropriate for you before recommending it. CTA: Learn more about rTMS CTA: Book a consultation
