Thoracic Robotic Surgery

If you require thoracic (chest) surgery, FV Hospital is one of the most advanced centres in South-East Asia.

Our surgeons use the da Vinci Xi surgical system to perform minimally invasive procedures on the chest, lungs and oesophagus such as:

  • Lung cancer resections including lobectomy (removal of a lung lobe), segmentectomy, and wedge resections for early-stage lung cancer. During lung surgery to remove lung cancer, lymph node samples are typically removed during this procedure (lymph node dissection), enabling an accurate staging of the disease.
  • Excision and suturing of pulmonary bullae.
  • Surgical treatment of bronchopulmonary sequestration.
  • Pleural procedures such as treatment of haemothorax, pneumothorax and empyema.
  • Mediastinal mass resection: biopsy or removal of tumours in the mediastinum (area between the lungs). Thymectomy for thymoma or myasthenia gravis.
  • Oesophageal surgery: Oesophagectomy for cancer or benign disease, para-oesophageal hernia repair, diverticulectomy, repair of oesophageal perforation.

Urologic Robotic Surgery

The Da Vinci Xi Robotic Surgical System in urology allows surgeons to perform highly precise, minimally invasive procedures prioritizing functional outcomes, such as preserving urinary continence and erectile function.

  • Prostatectomy for prostate cancer.
  • Cystectomy (bladder Surgery): Robotic removal of the bladder (radical cystectomy) for bladder cancer, often with bladder reconstruction.
  • Nephrectomy (kidney surgery): includes robotic partial nephrectomy (removing only the tumour to spare healthy tissue) or radical nephrectomy (removing the entire kidney) for renal cell carcinoma.
  • Pyeloplasty (kidney blockage): Surgical reconstruction or revision of the renal pelvis to treat uretero-pelvic junction obstruction.
  • Adrenalectomy.
  • Retroperitoneal Lymph Node Dissection (RPLND) a highly specialised, complex urologic surgery to remove lymph nodes located in the back of the abdomen around major blood vessels.

Gynaecologic Robotic Surgery

  • Hysterectomy: removal of the uterus for reasons such as fibroids or heavy bleeding.

  • Abdominal cerclage: a surgical procedure designed to reduce the risk of early labour or pregnancy loss in the second trimester, typically due to cervical insufficiency. The procedure consists of either inserting strong non-absorbable sutures or placing a specialised tape around the cervix to help keep it closed until delivery.
