The da Vinci Xi system is comprised of three main components: 1 Surgeon Console 2 Patient-Side Cart 3 Vision Cart Surgeon Console This is the workstation where your surgeon sits during the procedure, viewing a crystal-clear 3D-HD image of your anatomy, while controlling the instruments with hand, wrist, and finger movements that are translated into real-time, tremor-filtered micro-movements. Patient-Side Cart The Patient-Side Cart is positioned near the patient on the operating table. This is where the instruments used during the operation move in real time in response to your surgeon’s hand movements at the surgeon console. The tiny instruments are “wristed” and move like a human hand, but with a far greater range of motion. The cart consists of four, thin robotic arms with 540-degree range-of-motion and a 3D HD camera providing 15x magnification. The first robotic arm holds the camera and displays the 3D images on the viewer display. Whereas the other three robotic arms hold the specialised surgical instruments. The Da Vinci Xi system can rotate and bend up to 540 degrees, exceeding the range of motion of the human wrist. This flexibility allows surgeons to operate with precision in very narrow areas, such as the pelvis, deep inside the abdomen or the chest, where traditional rigid instruments can be difficult to use. Vision Cart The Vision Cart makes communication between the components of the system possible and provides a screen for the care team to view the operation. Ready for a consultation?
